Outlook: After one injury-riddled season at Nebraska, senior Joakim Larsson (Pronounced HOE-keem Larsen) appeared to be healthy and ready to contribute to the Huskers' fortunes. But Larsson, slated to play No. 6 singles, tore his left ACL against Rice Feb. 6 and will miss the entire season. Larsson earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors in 1998.
Fall 1998: Larsson was 1-1 during the fall season.
1997-98: Larsson played in just four matches while battling an ACL injury. He went 4-6 while playing at the Nos. 4-6 spots. Larsson often teamed with Andrew Wiese at No. 3 doubles, posting a 5-4 record with Wiese.
Other: Larsson earned NJCAA All-America honors while playing No. 1 singles for national champion Wallace (Ala.) State College in 1995 and 1996. Larsson was ranked in the top 10 nationally both seasons, including a No. 2 ranking in 1995. Larsson went through reconstructive knee surgery in 1997. The son of Britt-Marie and Kent Larsson, Joakim was born on April 21, 1975. Larsson is a broadcasting major who carries a 3.197 grade-point average.
