2024 (Sophomore)
Luke James was a regular competitor for the Huskers in the floor exercise and the vault. James set a career best in the floor exercise against Illinois with a 14.60 and in the vault against Ohio State with a 14.75, taking home an individual title in both of these events.
Outside of the gym, James was a member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll and the Academic All-Big Ten team.
2023 (Freshman)
Luke James had a strong season, competing on both floor and vault for the Huskers. He set two career bests in a meet with Oklahoma and Simpson College, when he earned a 14.40 on the floor and a 14.45 on the vault. James went on to compete in the NCAA Qualifiers and the NCAA Championships.
James earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, as well as the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for his dedication to service in the Lincoln community.
Before Nebraska
James, a native from Cape Town, South Africa, trained at the City of Birmingham Gymnastics Club under head coach Lee Woolls. James competed in the British Team Championships, where he took first-place and named champions honors.
Personal
Luke was born on August 12, 2002 and is the son of Chris and Mandy James. Luke has one older sister, Robyn. James is a mechanical engineering major.
Luke said he chose Nebraska because "I chose Nebraska because of the team environment, the coaching staff and the facilities."
