2013 (Senior)

Wyatt Baier finished his season unexpectedly early, breaking his leg while preparing for the second meet of the year. The Denver, Colo., native started his final season on the team at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a strong contributor to the team on floor exercise, still rings and vault.

Unable to compete for the remainder of the season, Baier continued to attend practices and motivate his teammates.

2012 (Junior)

After a solid sophomore season, Baier provided a strong junior year in 2012. The Denver, Colo., native continued to be a power on the vault for the Huskers, posting a team event high (15.40) against Iowa on March 23. Baier also scored a career-high 14.55 against the Hawkeyes on still rings.

Baier notched solid scores on the vault all season for the Huskers, scoring above 15.00 four times during his junior campaign. He finished the season as a three-event competitor at the NCAA Team Qualifier in Norman, Okla., competing on floor (14.05), still rings (10.45) and vault (13.65). 

Also a standout in the classroom, Baier claimed academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, while also earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011. 

2011 (Sophomore)

After sitting out his first season at Nebraska in 2010, Baier made major contributions as a sophomore for the Huskers in 2011.

Baier competed on floor exercise, still rings and vault. He made his biggest impact on vault, where he opened the season with a career-high 15.90 at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Jan. 15. He posted five scores of 15.25 or better on the event during the season, including a 15.85 to tie teammate Will Eastman for 10th at the 2011 MPSF Championships. Along with matching NU’s best vault score, Baier notched NU’s third-best score on still rings with a season-high 13.70 at the MPSF Championships. Baier capped his sophomore season by competing in NU’s vault lineup at the 2011 NCAA Team Qualifier in Columbus, Ohio, on April 14.

He was also a standout in the classroom and the community for the Huskers, earning first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades and a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll. Baier was also chosen as one of Nebraska’s prestigious Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award recipients for his commitment to the Huskers’ award-winning Life Skills program.

2010 (Freshman) 

An all-arounder as a freshman, Baier used his first season to gain strength and experience on his events. In the classroom, he earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2009-10.

Before Nebraska 

A member of Darano’s School of Gymnastics, Baier trained under Coach Kevin McMurchie. He was a two-time national championship competitor at Junior Nationals. Baier was recruited by Air Force, Navy and the U.S. Military Academy. He trained with Air Force for one semester before transferring to Nebraska. Academically, Baier was a percussion major at the Denver School of the Arts and graduated from high school in 2008.

Personal

The son of Frank and Christine Baier, Wyatt was born on Jan. 17, 1990. Wyatt has one brother, Bryan. A nutrition and health sciences major, Wyatt earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, after claiming first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades in 2011. He was chosen to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2011 and the fall and spring semesters of 2012-13. He was a three-time selection to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll. He was also chosen as one of NU’s prestigious Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award recipients in 2011.
