2013 (Junior)

Micah Christensen competed regularly on floor and high bar during his third season with the Huskers. He also made several appearances on vault at the beginning of the season. The junior posted a new career-high score on floor when Nebraska faced UIC at home on Jan. 27.

The Port Orchard, Wash., native competed for NU at both the Big Ten Championships and the team qualifiers at the NCAA Championships in State College, Penn.

Christensen earned a new career-high of 14.80 on vault at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis on April 5. The junior just barely missed finals on the event, tying for thirteenth with teammate Gabriel Jolley.

Competing on vault and high bar, Christensen grabbed a solid score on vault at the NCAA Championships team qualifiers, but was unable to move on to the individual event semi-finals.

Continuing to show strength in the classroom, Christensen earned academic All-Big Ten honors. The junior also earned the prestigious Nebraska Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award, which is awarded to student-athletes who show exceptional leadership, are consistently dedicated community service, and have a positive influence on the team.

2012 (Sophomore)

Christensen competed four times as a specialist on high bar for the Huskers as a sophomore in 2012. He posted his best score of the season with a 13.90 against Iowa. 

A standout in the classroom, Christensen captured academic All-Big Ten honors while also claiming a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2012.  

2011 (Freshman)

Christensen provided consistent contributions in the Nebraska high bar lineup throughout his freshman season. The native of Port Orchard, Wash., competed in each of NU’s first eight meets in the high bar lineup, capped by a career-best 14.50 on the event in the Huskers’ triangular victory over Iowa and Minnesota on March 19. He did not compete at the MPSF Championships or the NCAA Championships.

Christensen earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2010.

Before Nebraska

Christensen trained at Black Hills Gymnastics in Lacey, Wash., under Coach Bob Young. Christensen won the high bar competition at the 2009 Stanford Open. He also finished ninth on bar at Junior Olympic Nationals. 

Personal

The son of Doug and Kim Christensen, Micah was born Dec. 7, 1992 in Kirkland, Wash. Micah has an older brother, Elijah, and a younger sister, Hannah. A nutrition and health sciences major, Micah earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012, and a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the spring of 2012. He was a Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll pick in the fall of 2010
