2011 (Senior)
Cory Baumgarten sat out his senior season with the Huskers because of injury, after providing consistent contributions on three events as a junior in 2010.
He continued to perform at a high level in the classroom, earning a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's honor roll in the fall of 2010, before earning his bachelor's degree as a physics major from Nebraska in May 2011.
2010 (Junior)
Baumgarten trained hard during the summer of 2009 to become one of Nebraska's most improved gymnasts in 2010. Baumgarten strengthened his routines to improve both his floor exercise and still rings scores by nearly a point each. He competed on floor (13.75), rings (13.25) and vault (15.40) in the 2010 NCAA Team Qualifier.
He posted career-high scores on vault (15.70), floor exercise (14.45) and still rings (14.40) in Nebraska's home triangular with Oklahoma and Stanford on March 7. He matched his career-best still rings score just two weeks later against Iowa and Minnesota.
In the classroom, Baumgarten earned College Gymnastics Association Scholastic All-America honors and his second straight pick to the MPSF All-Academic team. He also earned spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters.
2009 (Sophomore)
Baumgarten appeared in nearly every regular-season competition for the Huskers on floor exercise, still rings, vault and high bar. He earned season-high scores of 13.05 on floor exercise, 13.55 on still rings, 15.40 on vault and 13.45 on high bar. Baumgarten cracked the top-three finishes on vault for the first time in his Husker career against Illinois-Chicago on March 20, as he placed third with a score of 15.25. After a successful regular season, Baumgarten earned a score of 14.35 on vault during the qualifying session of the 2009 NCAA Championships.
In addition to his success in the gym, Baumgarten earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2008 and spring of 2009. He also became one of only five Huskers to earn academic All-MPSF honors in 2009.
2008 (Freshman)
Baumgarten did not compete in his first season at Nebraska. He did get off to a strong start in the classroom by earning spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2007-08.
Before Nebraska
Baumgarten competed at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Plano, Texas, before joining the Huskers as a freshman in 2007-08. A Level-10 Texas state floor exercise champion, Baumgarten also found success at the national level, where he finished 10th overall in the junior division at the 2006 VISA Championships. His all-around finish was one of six top-10 finishes at the event for Baumgarten, with his highest places coming on the floor exercise and still rings, where he finished fifth and fourth, respectively. He was a 2007 graduate of Plano South High School.
