2005(Senior): Koopman steadily led off the floor competition for the Huskers in 2005 and done so with success, earning a career-high 9.15 in the event in 2005. The score nearly earned Koopman a trip to the podium with a fourth-place finish against Ohio State. Against Air Force, his score of 9.10 was good enough for second, his highest finish this season. Koopman also competed consistently on the high bar for the Huskers, earning a season-best mark of 8.60 at the MPSF Championships team competition on March 25.
2004 (Junior): Although originally slated as a two-event competitor, Koopman found himself all over the board in 2004. At the beginning of the season Koopman competed in four events at the Rocky Mountain Open, where he put up his highest score of the meet on the vault with an 8.65. Against Oklahoma, Michigan and Minnesota, Koopman turned in a landmark performance by earning a personal-best score of 8.95 on the parallel bars.
2003 (Sophomore): Koopman provided depth for the Huskers on the floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar in 2003, while also entering into the vault rotation on occasion. Against Ohio State, he set a career-high mark of 8.65 on the high bar, followed by a career high of 8.85 on the floor against Minnesota. Koopman repeated that score at the MPSF Championships in March. Rounding out his sophomore year, Koopman traveled with the team to Philadelphia for the national championships where he competed on the floor exercise (8.00), parallel bars (8.35) and high bar (8.50).
2002 (Freshman): Koopman joined Nebraska in August as a walk-on, and was able to fill in on several occasions. With several gymnasts plagued by injuries, Koopman competed on the floor exercise, parallel bars and high bar, setting season-best marks of 8.60, 8.60 and 8.30, respectively. Koopman walked away with a sixth-place finish on the parallel bars (8.40) at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships and was one of three Husker freshmen to compete at the NCAA Championships in Norman, Okla.
Prior: Koopman competed for Coach Tom Moretti at Triad Gymnastics Club in Iowa. He won the all-around at the 2000 Iowa State Club Championships and was a four-time state qualifier. Koopman finished runner-up in the all-around as a freshman, sophomore and senior and also competed at the Junior Olympic Nationals in Minneapolis, Minn., following his senior year. In 1999, Koopman took the all-around title at the Minnesota Iceberg Invitational.
