Senior (2010-11)
Mike Coatman started his senior campaign with his first individual victory at the Fairway Club Invitational in September, which featured a 4-under-par 68 in the second round. The following week, at the Kansas Invitational, he tied for third, helping the team to a runner-up finish.

In the spring, Coatman shot a career-best round of 65, which featured a hole-in-one on the 188-yard fourth hole, at the Jackrabbit Invitational en route to a tie for fifth. He finished the tournament at a career-best 207 (-9). Coatman, who started in 36 rounds for the Huskers, finished the season with a team-leading three top-five results and a 75.53 stroke average, which was good for fourth on the team.

Junior (2009-10)
Coatman had a strong start to his junior season, finishing in the top 10 in three of his first four tournaments. In the spring, Coatman added a season-best tie for seventh at the Jackrabbit Invitational, which aided the Huskers in capturing their first team title in four years.

Coatman tied for 15th at the Mizzou Intercollegiate to help the Huskers earn their second title of the spring. Coatman ended the year with a 74.89 stroke average, good for fourth on the team.

Coatman earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors at semester's end for his productivity on the course and in the classroom.

Sophomore (2008-09)
Coatman was a leader on the course for NU during his sophomore campaign. From the second tournament onward, Coatman led NU in scoring. He finished the season with a 74.15 stroke average and competed in a team-high 34 rounds.

At the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, Coatman shot 213, which was the top score by a Husker golfer all season. Coatman tied for ninth.

Coatman earned a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the first time in his career following the spring semester.

Freshman (2007-08)
Coatman emerged as one of the top golfers for the Huskers in his freshman season. He played his best golf of the year at the Big 12 Championship. He led the entire field during much of the first round and hung around the top 10 through the first three rounds. His 79 in the final round dropped him into a tie for 16th place with a 295, but it was still the best finish of any Husker and the best finish of Coatman's freshman season.

The only Husker to compete in all 36 rounds during the season, Coatman finished with a final stroke average of 75.47, second-best on the team.

Before Nebraska
Coatman was a four-year letterwinner for Lincoln Southwest, earning all-state honors all four years.

In 2005 and 2006, he tied for sixth both seasons as the Silverhawks recorded back-to-back runner-up finishes. In his senior season, Coatman tied for third at the Nebraska state tournament, helping Southwest to the Class A team title. For his efforts, he was named honorary co-captain of the all-city team by the Lincoln Journal Star.

Coatman has also been active on the Nebraska amateur circuit, winning the 2005 and 2006 Nebraska State Junior Match Play Championships before adding a runner-up finish in 2007. Coatman also qualified for the 2006 U.S. Junior Amateur.
