Drew Reynolds Season 2006-07

Senior (2006-07)
After posting two top-15 finishes and three rounds at or under par this fall, Drew Reynolds will be counted on this spring for the consistency he has displayed throughout his career. Reynolds has been a regular in the Nebraska lineup for three years and looks to capitalize on his senior season as the longest tenured veteran on a team with four seniors. His consistency allows the team to rely on the skilled ball striker to be a steadying force at the top of the Husker lineup.

Head Coach Bill Spangler saw Reynolds continue to place in the top of the Husker lineup throughout the fall.

“Drew has capitalized on his greatest talents to emerge as one of the most reliable ball strikers on our team,” Spangler said. “He continues to be a huge factor in steadying our team under pressure situations.”

Junior (2005-06)
Reynolds continued his sweeping improvement and established his identity as a fixture in NU’s lineup in his junior campaign by maintaining a 73.33 stroke average. For the Huskers, Reynolds was second in greens in regulation in the fall and also showed a solid short game. He made a strong impression in his fall season, finishing with a 73.61 stroke average for an improvement of almost a stroke-and-a-half on his sophomore year. Reynolds posted three top-20 finishes and finished in the top-25 in five of six tournaments, improving consistently throughout the fall. His low score of 213 came in the last fall tournament at the Sam Hall Invitational, boosted by the final two rounds in which he twice fired his season-low score of 69. Reynolds shot his season-low three times throughout the fall, also firing a 69 at the Xavier Invitational. In 15 of 18 spring rounds, Reynolds snagged scores under 75 while also firing eight rounds under par. He followed up with an impressive spring showing that included a second-time career-best third-place finish at the UTSA Intercollegiate.

Sophomore (2004-05)
Reynolds posted a 74.88 stroke average during 35 rounds. He opened the fall in strong fashion by finishing in third place at the Fairway Club Invitational, while competing as an individual in the tournament. He added another top-20 finish the following week at the Kansas Invitational, when he tied for 17th with a 221. In the spring, Reynolds produced two top-five finishes, including a career-low 213 at the Roadrunner Intercollegiate.  In all, Reynolds produced three scores under 220.  At the Branson Creek Invitational, Reynolds shot a career-low 68 and finished the tournament with a 219 total.  In nine of 15 spring rounds, Reynolds produced scores under 75 and six rounds under par. 

Freshman (2003-04)
Reynolds competed in all 13 of Nebraska’s tournaments during the 2003-04 campaign and finished his first season of competition with a 76.58 stroke average. Reynolds had four top-25 finishes during his redshirt freshman campaign, including a season-best tie for seventh place at the Branson Creek Invitational in the spring, when he posted a career-best 216 total. In addition to his seventh-place showing at Branson, Reynolds finished in 12th place at the Fairway Club Invitational, tied for 21st at the Kansas Invitational and tied for 12th at the Pepsi-Cola Invitational, helping Nebraska to the team title. He made a strong collegiate debut with a one-under par 70 in the opening round of the Fairway Club Invite, his first college tournament. He fired a season-best 69 in the second round of the Squire Creek Intercollegiate and finished the season with 13 rounds of 75 or lower. Reynolds capped his first season of action with a 59th-place showing at the Big 12 Championships at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

Before Nebraska
Reynolds was a member of the varsity squad at Blue Springs South for four years under Coach Mike McGown.  Reynolds was a 1999 high school All-American and captured a district title in 2001. A four-year letterman in golf, Reynolds also lettered twice in basketball and was a four-year honor roll student.

Personal
Drew is the son of Rick and Margaret Reynolds. He has one sister, Alison, (17) and a brother, Riley (16). Drew is the fourth generation in his family to participate in athletics at the University of Nebraska. His grandfather, Bobby Reynolds, was an All-American halfback for the Huskers as a sophomore in 1950. Drew was born on April 5, 1984, and is a communication studies major scheduled to graduate in May.
