Redshirt (2005-06)
Sophomore Tyler Bishop redshirted in the 2005-06 season after a solid first year in the NU program. Bishop used the year off to refine all aspects of his game.
“This season was a great opportunity for Tyler,” Head Coach Bill Spangler said. “He came into this program with a lot of raw talent over the year he gained the confidence he needed to compete.”
Freshman (2004-05)
Bishop played in seven tournaments in his first season with the Huskers. Over 19 rounds, Bishop posted a 77.68 stroke average. He competed four times in the Husker lineup and recorded a career-low 73 three times. At the Branson Creek Invitational, Bishop notched a career-best by tying for 19th with a final score of 229. Bishop’s career-low score was a 223 at the Pioneer Golf Classic, where he finished each of the final two rounds with a career-low 73.
Before Nebraska
Bishop had an outstanding prep career at Skyline High School in Longmont, Colo., where he helped his team to state runner-up finishes in 2002 and 2003. Bishop won five tournaments in his senior season and was the third-ranked junior in the state of Colorado. He was his team’s MVP all four years under Coach Cortney Rudolph and also earned all-conference honors four times. Bishop’s top individual finish at state was a third-place showing in his junior year. He was also the Colorado Junior State Match Play runner-up in 2003, losing to Tom Glissmeyer, who qualified for the 2003 U.S. Open.
