Aten added depth to the Husker squad but did not compete.
Freshman (2001-02)
Aten finished the season with a scoring average of 77.36 over 11 rounds. In his first season of competition with the Huskers, Aten recorded a low score of 73 and a 54-hole low score of 226. A tie for 30th in the Wesleyan Preview marked his best finish of the season.
Redshirt (2000-01)
Aten redshirted during the 2000-01 season.
Before Nebraska
Jonathan Aten began his high school career at Grant before finishing his junior and senior years at Kearney. He tied for second at the Nebraska Class A state golf tournament in 1997 and grabbed the second-place spot again in 1999. Aten earned a total of 23 individual championships throughout his high school career. He set a national record and became the National Long Drive Champion with a blast of 343 yards, 1 foot, and 3 inches. Aten was selected as an all-state honoree in golf in his junior and senior years. He lettered in basketball for three years and golf for four.

Jonathan is the son of Gregg and Denice Aten and has a sister, Alison (22) and a brother, Alex (18)...majors in general studies...played in high school with current Husker, Kevin Bryson...chose to come to Nebraska because he liked the academic help and had always dreamed of being a Husker...hobbies are basketball and hunting...favorite golf course is Oak Tree in Edmond, Okla....favorite golf club is the putter...favorite golfer is Tiger Woods...favorite professional tournament is The Masters.
