Freshman (2026-27)
Tommy Kelley brings an outstanding resume as both a high school and junior golfer with him to Nebraska after signing with the Huskers in November 2025.

Kelley, who was ranked as high as 49th on the list of the nation's top recruits, was ranked No. 57 nationally in the 2026 class by Junior Golf Scoreboard at the time of his signing.

Kelley is one of six Nebraska natives on NU’s nine-player roster in 2026-27, joining Thomas Bryson and Gavin Gerch (Lincoln Southeast), junior Jackson Benge (Omaha Westside) and freshmen Zack Erstad (Lincoln East) and Jaxson Hinze (York).

Kelley won the 59th Nebraska Junior Amateur Championship by holding off fellow Husker freshman and defending champion Jaxson Hinze.

"Tommy has already distinguished himself both locally and nationally after great finishes at the Western Junior and The Bobby Chapman," Nebraska Coach Judd Cornell said. "He is coming off a strong summer that included a Nebraska Junior Amateur title."

Kelley opened his collegiate career as Nebraska's top finisher at the New York Harbor Cup (Aug. 31-Sept. 1). He tied for 27th with a three-round total of 217 (+3) that included even-par rounds of 71 on the first day of the event. He closed the tournament with a 75 (+4) on the 7,106-yard layout of the Bayonne Golf Club in New Jersey.

The freshman out of Omaha Creighton Prep opened the two-day, 54-hole Bearcat Invitational (Sept. 14-15) played on the 7,279-yard par-71 layout at the Coldstream Country Club; he notched his first top-25 individual finish as a Husker, tying for 21st with an even-par 213 to lead the Nebraska men's golf team in Cincinnati. Kelley produced back-to-back rounds of one-under-par 70 in the first and second rounds of the event. He closed with a 73 (+2) in the final round to put up Nebraska's top individual scorer of the tournament.

Before Nebraska
Kelley owns three semifinal appearances at the Nebraska Junior Match Play. He advanced to the finals of the 2024 Junior Match Play, after earning a semifinal appearance in 2023. During the summer of 2025, Kelley posted the best score in stroke play before advancing to the semifinals of match play at the event. He added a third-place finish at the 2025 Nebraska Junior Amateur.

He tied for ninth at the 2025 Bobby Chapman Invitational and tied for 25th at the 2025 Western Junior Championship. Kelley also earned top-10 finishes at the AJGA Austin Minnesota (3rd), AJGA Wyndham Clark (6th), and the AJGA Wichita Championship (7th) in 2025.

In 2024, Kelley added a third-place finish at the AJGA Stan Utley Championship, a tie for fourth at the Indian Creek Invitational and a tie for seventh at the AJGA Colorado Junior.

Earlier in his career, Kelley became the youngest player ever (14 years, 10 days) to make the cut at the Nebraska Men’s Amateur Championship.

Along with his outstanding junior career, Kelley was one of the state’s top high school golfers at Omaha Creighton Prep. He helped the Junior Jays to a fourth-place team finish while taking third individually as a junior in 2025. He added a fourth-place finish with a 140 (71-69) at the Class A state tournament to help the Junior Jays to a runner-up finish in 2026.

As a freshman, he was a member of Creighton Prep’s Class A state runner-up team, finishing 14th individually, before helping Prep to a third-place team finish as a sophomore with a 13th-place individual effort.

A Super-State and all-state performer as a junior and senior, he led the state of Nebraska in scoring differential during the 2025 season, while posting a 69.78 stroke average on the year. A two-time district champion (2024, 2025), Kelley fired a Creighton Prep record 63 at the district championship as a sophomore in 2024. He was the district runner-up as a senior.

Personal
Kelley selected Nebraska over Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Georgetown, South Dakota State and Wyoming.
