Senior (1998-99)
Josh Madden completed his fourth fall season at Nebraska with a 73.3 stroke average, which ranked fourth on the squad. Highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational (73-74-67--214), Madden's fall also included an 18th-place finish at the Duke Golf Classic (73-75-72--220) and two sub-70 rounds. Madden shot a season-best 67 in the third round of the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational. The stroke total was just one shot away from tying Madden's career-best round of 66, which was recorded at the Kiawah Island Invitational in the fall of 1996. The 1998 NCAA qualifier and third-place medalist at the 1997 Big 12 Championships provides the Huskers with a solid threat at any given tournament. Madden should continue to be a consistent force for Nebraska in the spring.

Junior (1997-98)
Madden, a member of a strong Husker top four, swung his way to two top five and seven top 20 finishes in tournament play during the 1997-98 season. Madden finished third on the team in overall stroke average (74.5), including a 73.14 mark in the fall and a 75.28 average during the spring. With a low round of 68 for the season, Madden also notched two top five finishes and seven total top 20 finishes, including a season-high second-place finish at the Kroger Intercollegiate. At the Big 12 Championships, Madden finished third on the team in a tie with teammate Jamie Rogers for 41st (87-76-77). Following the conference championships, Madden helped Nebraska to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Central Regionals with a seven-over-par, 48th-place performance of 220 (75-70-75) and went on to tie for 128th at the NCAA Championships (73-77--150). During the spring, Madden's efforts were highlighted by a third-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Collegiate (74-71-72--217), aiding NU to one of its three spring victories. In six spring tournaments, Madden finished outside of the top 20 just two times and never finished lower than 35th. During the fall, Madden finished outside the top seven just once in five tournaments. He led the team at the abbreviated Kroger Intercollegiate, tying for second place with a 144 (70-74). Madden was the second-best finisher on the team at the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational and at the Kansas Invitational, where he placed seventh. At the Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational, Madden finished with a 216 (69-74-73) and a fall-season low score of 69 in the first round. At the Kansas Invitational, Madden carded a 218 (72-74-72). Madden also garnered a spot in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, which are determined by a computerized point system based on performance. The Australian cracked the list at No. 87 in the Nov. 19, 1997 rankings, which are administered by the College Golf Foundation and compiled by Golfstat.

Sophomore (1996-97)
Madden, who earned All-Big 12 honors, led the team in overall stroke average for the season at 73.6 through 33 rounds and 2,428 strokes while recording a team-best third-place finish at the Big 12 Championships (72-71-71--214) and a 52nd-place finish at Central Regionals. During the fall and spring seasons combined, Madden earned seven top 10 finishes in 11 tournaments. Madden finished in the top five four times, including a season-best runner-up finish at the ASU Indian Classic in April (71-72--143), a third-place finish at the inaugural Big 12 Championships, and fifth-place finishes at the SFA Crown Classic in February (76-74--150) and the Diet Pepsi/Shocker Classic in April (73-74--147). Madden finished the fall season with a 73.1 stroke average, second on the squad, but turned in an even stronger spring as the top Husker finisher in six of eight tournaments.

Freshman (1995-96)
Madden began his freshman year in style, placing 10th in his first fall tournament, the Air Force Falcon-Cross Creek Invitational. At the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in the fall, Madden carded a career-best 66. He compiled a 76.5 season scoring average. In the spring, Madden had a 77.1 average and had five top-15 finishes, highlighted by a 12th-place Big Eight Championship finish. Madden's best tournament came in Wichita, Kan., where he defeated teammates Steve Friesen and Jacques Paiement in a playoff to win the Shocker Classic.
