Junior (2023-24)
Grant Jabenis opened his second season at Nebraska by shooting a 220 (+10) over three rounds at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate (Sept. 8-10). The junior from Omaha was Nebraska's No. 4 golfer in the lineup and matched fifth-year senior Will Marshall as NU's No. 3 finisher at the tournament, tying for 53rd overall after rounds of 77-73-70 on the par-72, 7,280-yard layout of the Tennessee National Golf Club in Louden.
Jabenis competed as an individual at the Stampede at the Creek in Omaha (April 8-9), finishing 24th with a three-round total of 226 (+10). He closed with an even-par 72 on the 7,627-yard layout at Indian Creek Golf Club after opening the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 77.
He carries a 74.33 stroke average over six rounds in 2023-24.
Sophomore (2022-23)
In his first season as a Husker, Jabenis made regular contributions to the lineup, competing in 20 rounds while posting a 74.50 stroke average.
He earned his first lineup appearance at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Oct. 10-11). The Omaha Westside product finished 33rd in Indiana, before closing the fall with a tie for 59th at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational.
His 74.83 stroke average helped Nebraska establish a record for fall stroke average (289.64).
Jabenis opened spring stroke play at The Prestige in Indio, Calif. (Feb. 20-22). He opened with back-to-back rounds of 71 and finished in third place at 215 (-1) to match Nebraska’s top individual finish of the season
He competed in the Husker lineup at the Desert Mountain Collegiate before notching a fifth-place finish at the Stampede at the Creek. His performance at Indian Creek in Elkhorn, Neb., included a career-best second-round 67 (-5) to finish with a career-best 54-hole score of 210 (71-67-72, -6).
He took 28th at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate with a 226 (+13), before concluding the season with a 153 (80-73) over two rounds at the rain-shortened Big Ten Championship in Galloway, N.J. (April 28-29).
Before Nebraska
Jabenis helped Iowa Western CC to a third-place finish at the NJCAA District III Championships in April of 2021, carding a three-round total of 222. In the fall of 2020, Jabenis captured his first individual title and led the Reivers to a team championship at the Blue River Classic. During the spring, Jabenis took seventh individually to help the Reivers to a team title at the Eagle Spring Classic in Bartlesville, Okla.
Jabenis did not compete collegiately in 2021-22, delaying his continued collegiate enrollment while focusing on his game in Arizona.
At the Nebraska Amateur in July of 2020, Jabenis fired a 66 (-5) in the opening round at Happy Hollow Club in Omaha. He finished fourth with a four-round total of 287 (+3) that also included a third-round 69 (-2). Jabenis added a 10th-place finish at the 2021 Nebraska Amateur in Hastings.
As a junior in 2018, Jabenis tied for fifth at the Nebraska Class A High School Championship in Norfolk. He added a tie for 10th at the 2019 high school championship to help Omaha Westside tie for fifth in the team standings. He also tied for 16th as a sophomore in 2017 to help the Warriors to an eighth-place team finish.
Personal
The son of Jon Jabenis and Dacia Goldstein, Grant was born Sept. 5, 2000. The human development and family science major has earned three spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
