After playing just 12 minutes in NU's first 20 contests, the redshirt freshman moved into the rotation and became an essential part of the Husker lineup. He appeared in 21 games, averaging 4.1 points on 55 percent shooting and 1.8 rebounds per game. Over NU's final 12 contests, he averaged 6.6 points per game while shooting 58 percent from the floor and 47 percent from 3-point range. He also added 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game, while showing the knack of being at the right place in key moments. Hoiberg moved into the rotation following Emmanuel Bandoumel's season-ending injury and made an immediate impact with six points and a team-high six rebounds in 18 minutes against Northwestern on Jan. 25. Hoiberg then poured in a career-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range, in 26 minutes at Maryland.
