Outlook
Bob Kempf joins the Huskers as a walk-on for the 2003-04 campaign, the only non-scholarship newcomer for Nebraska this season. One of the Huskers' tallest players, Kempf can use his height and size to provide a defensive presence in the paint, blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. Kempf has continued to improve over the past two years, and after working in the Husker Power program, will have a chance to provide solid depth in the paint for the Huskers.

High School
Kempf was a three-year letterwinner in basketball at Shickley High School under coach Dave Bahe. Kempf earned first-team all-state honors from the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald in his final season. He was also an all-state selection by the state's high school coaches, and selected to play in the state all-star game.

As a senior, Kempf helped Shickley High School to a runner-up finish at the state tournament. It was the second time in four years that Shickley reached the final eight at the state tourney.

After averaging 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks per game, Kempf was named to the all-conference team and the league's player of the year. He recorded at least 30 points in a game twice during high school competition, and had a career high 20 rebounds in a contest. Kempf added 11 blocks twice during his prep career.

Kempf lettered three times for the Shickley football team and earned one letter in golf. He was also an honor roll member.

Bob is the son of Dave and Susie Kempf. He was born Dec. 11, 1984, and has two brothers, Neal and Brian. Bob has not declared a major.
