Craig Wortmann finished his career on a positive note, playing more games his senior season by the end of December than the rest of his career combined. A hard-nosed player, Wortmann contributed to the Huskers with a solid work ethic and attitude.

A native of Hartington, Neb., Wortmann joined the Huskers as a walk-on for the 1998-99 season, after playing one year at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb. Wortmann played in just three games in his first season, followed with four appearances as a junior for Nebraska.

The 2000-01 season, however, provided a chance for Wortmann to earn more playing time under Collier. Wortmann averaged 2.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game and was sixth on the team in steals (15). He appeared in all but one contest for the Huskers during the season, including four starts. He scored a career-high nine points against in-state foe Creighton, while also adding eight points against Oral Roberts.

Off the court, Wortmann was named to the Academic All-Big 12 second-team.
