Andy Markowski Season 1996-97
#44Andy Markowski finished his Nebraska career in 1999 as one of the top in-state players to go through the Husker program.
Markowski was a two-year starter for Coach Danny Nee and finished his career fifth on Nebraska's career games played list at 124. Markowski was the only Husker to start all 33 games in 1998-99 and finished with 60 career starts. Markowski finished his career with a streak of 96 consecutive games played.
The blue-collar player finished his career with 603 points (4.9 per game) and 568 rebounds (4.6 per game). His rebounding total is just outside the Husker career top 10. As a senior, Markowski averaged 6.4 points and 5.6 rebounds and was second on the team in assists and field-goal percentage.
The Ord, Neb., native was an NU team captain for each of the last two seasons and was second on the team in rebounding in each of his last two seasons. Markowski is also one of the most decorated Husker cagers in the classroom. He was a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 selection and played his last semester with a degree in hand.
As a Husker, Markowski was also extremely active in the community. He conducted a summer basketball camp in his hometown on an annual basis and played a major role in Nebraska's "Read to Win" program in the fall of 1998.
