Before Nebraska
Rhymes played at Hillcrest (Ariz.) Prep for Coach Marcus Gantt, helping the school to a 28-6 record in 2024-25. He averaged 22.4 points per game as a senior on 52 percent shooting along with 7.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He also shot 41 percent from 3-point. Rhymes was the No. 108 player nationally in the 247Sports Composite ranking and the No. 5 player in the state of Arizona while On3 had him ranked No. 118 nationally and the sixth-ranked prospect in the state in 2025.
Rymes played for Coach Lamar Bigby with the Las Vegas Knicks on the PRO16/NXT League circuit, averaging 17.5 points, six rebounds and five assists per game, highlighted by a 40-point effort.
He played his first three seasons of high school at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas before spending his senior year at Bella Vista (Ariz.) College Prep. Rhymes, who played in the 2023 Pangos All-American Camp, selected Nebraska over New Mexico, Boise State, UNLV, and UC Santa Barbara.
The son of Wayne and Maria Rhymes, the elder Rhymes played college basketball at Portland State and Colorado-Colorado Springs before playing professionally overseas.
