BEFORE NEBRASKA
Kendall Blue spent the first three season of his college career playing at St. Thomas (Minn.) for Coach Johnny Tauer. Blue totaled over 1,000 career points and started 89 of 100 career games for the Tommies, which recorded consecutive 20-win seasons in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
Blue started all 34 games last season, averaging 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steal per game, as St. Thomas posted a 24-10 mark in 2024-25. He ranked 17th in the Summit League in scoring while shooting 51 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range. Blue finished in the top 15 of the Summit League in assists (13th), rebounding (13th) and steals (13th). He earned a spot on the Summit League All-Tournament team in 2025, averaging 15.0 ppg, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game in helping the Tommies reach the title game. He had 21 points in the win over North Dakota in the semifinals and nearly had a double-double in the title game against Omaha with 10 rebounds, nine points and three assists. He had 23 double-figure outings on the year, including four 20-point games. His best game of the season came at Oklahoma State, when he finished with 18 points, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and a season-high 11 rebounds.
As a sophomore, Blue started all 33 games and averaged 10.6 ppg, 4.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He tallied 18 double-figure efforts, including a career-high 22-point performance against Portland State where he went 7-of-9 from the field, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range, He also had 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting against Marquette and his first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds against Omaha. He closed the year by averaging 13.5 ppg on 65 percent shooting and 6.5 rpg over the final four games of the year. He broke into the starting lineup as a freshman, playing in all 33 games, including 22 starts, as he averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He had 15 double-figure efforts, including a season-high 15 points against North Dakota State.
Blue played high school basketball for Coach Josh Pettier at East View High School. A four-year performer, he averaged 19.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as East View went 23-6 and reached the state semifinals in 2022. He was a second-team all-metro selection and first-team all-conference performer. He was also selected to the Minnesota High School All-Star game and was a finalist for the MBCA McDonald Award as a senior. Blue played AAU basketball with D1 Minnesota and Coach Jay Furhman.
PERSONAL
Kendall is the son of Lisa Lissimore and Dennis Blue and majors in child, youth and family studies at Nebraska. His mother (Lisa) played at St. Paul Central High School, winning the first Minnesota Girls Class AA title in 1976 before going on to play collegiately at Minnesota and Grand View College, where she is a member of the school's Hall of Fame.
