Colin Rice Season 2026-27

Rice starred for Coach Brett Watson at Waukee Northwest High School as one of the top prospects in the Midwest. Rice was a four-star recruit and consensus top-100 player by the three major recruiting series, ranking No. 64 by Rivals, No. 88 by 247Sports and No. 98 by ESPN in the final 2026 class rankings.  He was named as a Gatorade Player of the Year in Iowa as a senior, as he averaged 21.6 points on 54 percent shooting along with 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.2 steals and 2.2 blocks per game. Rice shot 43 percent from 3-point range and over 80 percent from the foul line in helping his school to a 20-5 record and an appearance in the Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals as a senior. Rice totaled four games with at least 30 points, including a school-record 50-point effort in a substate semi-final win over Iowa City Liberty. For his efforts he was named the Iowa 4A Player of the Year and tabbed for the Des Moines Register Elite All-State Team and Iowa Newspaper Association 1st Team 4A All-State squad.  As a junior, Rice led Waukee Northwest to a 23-4 record and a runner-up finish in Class 4A, averaging 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 37.8 percent from 3-point range. He garnered 4A all-tournament team accolades after averaging 18.7 points and 11.3 rebounds over three tournament games, including 18 points and 15 rebounds in the 4A championship game. He played for Martin Borthers on the AAU circuit, earning first-team UA Rise honors by averaging 19.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 16 games this summer. He was the MVP of Session 3 when he averaged 23.6 ppg while hitting on 42.3 percent from 3-point range. Rice was also chosen for the 2025 NBPA Top 100 Camp. Rice selected Nebraska over a host of schools, including Iowa, Illinois, Northwestern and Colorado.

PERSONAL
The son of Josh and Kendra Rice, Josh has one younger brother (Tate). He majors in business administration at Nebraska.
