BEFORE NEBRASKA
Boden Kapke (pronounced Cap-key) spent time spent the 2025-26 season at Boston College. He played in 31 games, including 17 starts, averaging 10.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game for Coach Earl Grant. He ranked second on the team in scoring, third in rebounds and third in blocked shots while shooting 33 percent from 3-point range on nearly three attempts per game. He reached double figures 18 times and totaled three double-doubles, all of which came in ACC action. He moved into the starting lineup in conference play, averaging 12.1 points on 49 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds per game. He led the Eagles and was 18th in the conference in rebounding, while finishing second in both scoring and 3-pointers (20). Kapke closed the season playing some of his best basketball, averaging 13.4 points on 48 percent shooting, including 42 percent from 3-point range, over his final nine contests. That stretch included a season-high 25 points and seven rebounds at Virginia Tech and double-doubles against Miami (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Wake Forest (13 points, 10 rebounds).
Kapke began his career at Butler, where he played two seasons with the Bulldogs and Head Coach Thad Matta. As a sophomore, he appeared in 34 games, including 16 starts and averaged 4.1 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. He had a season-high 14 points against Boise State in the College Basketball Crown and had 10 or more caroms two times, including a career-best 13 boards at Xavier. He collected his first career double with 13 points and 11 boards at Seton Hall and tallied 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting (3-6 3FG) against Creighton. He appeared in 22 contests as a freshman, averaging 2.0 points and 1.7 boards per game.
Kapke was a finalist for 2023 Minnesota Mr. Basketball after leading Holy Family Catholic to a 29-3 record and to the Class 2A State Tournament semifinals as a senior for Coach Joe Burger. He averaged 23 points and 13 rebounds per game and was named to the 2022-23 Star Tribune All-State and All-Metro Teams and voted to Minnesota State All-Tournament Team. Kapke finished as Holy Family’s all-time leading scorer with 1,796 career points and tallied 1,062 rebounds during his high school career. As a junior playing for Coach Matt Thuli, he averaged 27.2 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. He had career high games of 43 points and 22 rebounds. He played for D1 Minnesota on the AAU circuit for Coach Al Harris, where he was an AAU teammate of Pryce Sandfort.
PERSONAL
The son of Don and Cynthia Kapke, Boden has one younger brother (Hunter) and one younger sister (Gabby). Kapke majors in child, youth and family services at Nebraska. His father (Dan) played football at both Iowa and Wisconsin, while his mother (Cynthia) played basketball at Maine from 1990 until 1994. His younger sister (Gabby) rowed collegiately at Wisconsin. Boden, who also looked at Saint Louis and Virginia Tech, chose Nebraska because of the “winning culture and program.”
