Senior (1975)
Davis closed his career as Nebraska's all-time leading rusher, with 2,445 career rushing yards, topping the old mark of 2,420 yards set by Jeff Kinney from 1969-71.  "Tough Tony" was named second-team All-Big Eight and participated in the Hula and Japan All-Star games.  Davis scored four touchdowns in his second season at fullback after being moved from I-back.

Junior (1974)
In his first year as the Huskers' fullback, Davis gained 652 yards on the ground and added 185 more as a receiver.  Davis was named MVP of Nebraska's 13-10 win over Florida in the 1975 Sugar Bowl with 126 yards on 17 carries. 

Sophomore (1973)
Davis burst onto the varsity squad and rushed for 1,114 yards as Nebraska's I-back in Tom Osborne's first year as NU head coach.  Davis became just the third Husker (Bobby Reynolds in 1950 and Jeff Kinney in 1971) to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season.  In his first game on the varsity squad, Davis ran for 147 yards including a 43-yard TD run, in a 40-13 rout of UCLA.  Davis closed his sophomore season with an MVP performance in the Huskers' 19-3 win over Texas in the Cotton Bowl.  Davis ran for 106 yards and scored a touchdown.

Davis recovered from knee surgery.

At Tecumseh HS
Named an all-state and All-America performer, Davis starred for coach Larry Dunn at Tecumseh High School.

Personal
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Davis, Tony Davis was born Jan. 21, 1953 in Tecumseh.  His given name is Michael E. Davis, but his brothers tabbed him "Tough Tony" from a very early age.
