Before Nebraska (Middleton HS)
Thomas D’Onofrio joined the Nebraska program as a safety prospect after he showed his ability as a ballhawk at Middleton (Wis.) High School.

D’Onofrio had a hand in nine turnovers in the 2023 season, including seven interceptions, helping Middleton to a 9-2 record and a trip to the second round of the Division I state playoffs. His play as a junior helped Coach Jason Pertzborn’s team to a 7-4 record and a state playoff berth.

D’Onofrio also competed in track and field. He had an opportunity to join the Penn State program. Thomas’ father, Mark D’Onofrio, played at Penn State and was a second-round pick in the 1992 NFL Draft by Green Bay. Mark is a long-time college football coach and is currently the linebackers coach at Stanford. He worked on the same staff as Matt Rhule at Temple from 2006 to 2010.
