Before Nebraska (Norfolk HS)
Rowdy Bauer joined the Nebraska program from Norfolk High School, where he was a multi-sport standout for the Panthers. On the football field, Bauer played both ways for Coach Chris Koozer’s team helping his school to a 5-4 record in 2023.

Bauer had nearly 1,100 all-purpose yards as a senior, including 719 rushing yards and 252 receiving yards. He accounted for 11 touchdowns and also made 27 tackles, while adding an interception and three breakups on defense. Bauer was an honorable-mention all-state selection by both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald. 

As a junior, Bauer ran for 372 yards, while adding 324 receiving yards and making 30 tackles on defense. He also played for the Panthers as a sophomore when he accumulated nearly 400 all-purpose yards. 

Bauer was also a track standout and was the all-class gold medal champion in long jump in 2024 with a leap of 23-7 1/2 and finished second in the Class A long jump in 2023 with a distance of 22-4 1/4. Bauer also qualified for state in the 100 meters and the 4x400 meter relay as a senior. Bauer finished third in the long jump as a sophomore.

Bauer had several other walk-on FBS opportunities and was selected to participate in the 2024 Shrine Bowl.
