Rowdy Bauer joins the Nebraska program from Norfolk High School, where he has been a multi-sport standout for the Panthers. On the football field, the 5-11, 185-pound Bauer played both ways for Coach Chris Koozer’s team helping his school to a 5-4 record in 2023. Bauer had nearly 1,100 all-purpose yards, including 719 rushing yards and 252 receiving yards. He accounted for 11 touchdowns and also made 27 tackles, while adding an interception and three breakups on defense. Bauer was an honorable-mention all-state selection by both the Lincoln Journal Star and the Omaha World-Herald. As a junior, Bauer ran for 372 yards, while adding 324 receiving yards and making 30 tackles on defense. He also played for the Panthers as a sophomore when he accumulated nearly 400 all-purpose yards. Bauer had several other walk-on FBS opportunities and has been selected to participate in the 2024 Shrine Bowl. Bauer is a track standout and finished second in the Class A long jump in 2023 with a leap of 22-4 1/4 . Bauer also qualified in the 200 meters and the 4x400 meter relay. Bauer finished third in the long jump as a sophomore.
