2023 (Redshirt)
Jeremiah Charles played in two games in 2023, utilizing his redshirt season. Charles began the year as a wide receiver before making the switch to defensive back. He saw action in each of the final two games of the year against Wisconsin and Iowa.
Charles split his offseason between football workouts and the Husker track team. Charles finished fifth in the triple jump (50-6 3/4) and sixth in the long jump (24-0 1/4) at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. He placed second at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in the triple jump with a distance of 49-11 1/4. The outdoor season was marked by a sixth-place triple jump finish (51-10) and a 15th-place long jump finish (23-0 3/4) at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
Before Nebraska (Arlington Martin HS)
Jeremiah Charles played only one season of football before joining Nebraska. He played his lone season as a senior at Arlington Martin High School in Texas.
Charles helped Arlington Martin win the district title and advance to the state playoffs in his only season. According to MaxPreps, he led the Warriors with 23 catches, 452 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Charles averaged nearly 20 yards per catch and also had three kickoff returns for 53 yards. He focused on basketball before giving football a try his final season. Charles was also a standout triple jumper with a personal-best jump of nearly 48 feet.
Charles is regarded as a three-star prospect by On3. He chose Nebraska over an offer from North Texas, after his recruitment was limited due to not playing football until his senior season.
Personal
Jeremiah was born on Nov. 13, 2004, and he is the son of Twylana Harrison and Sidney Charles. His mother played basketball and competed in track and field at Texas A&M. Jeremiah is majoring in child, youth and family studies.
