2023 (Junior)
Nick Henrich played in 10 games with four starts in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury prior to the season's final game. He recorded 42 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks with one pass breakup. Henrich was a key part of a Blackshirt defense that posted Nebraska's best rushing defense (92.9 yards per game), total defense (303.5 yards per game) and scoring defense (18.3 points per game) since the Huskers joined the Big Ten in 2011. NU ranked in the top 20 nationally in each of those three categories. He wore the No. 3 as one one of 10 Huskers to earn a single-digit number in a team vote selecting him as one of Nebraska's "toughest" players.
Henrich missed the opener at Minnesota due to injury but returned against Colorado and had three tackles, including a career-high 2.0 sacks. He had a pair of tackles against Northern Illinois. Henrich recorded five tackles against Louisiana Tech. He started his first game of the season against No. 2 Michigan and had a game-high nine tackles with his first career pass breakup. Henrich started at Illinois and had five tackles with 1.0 tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry. He made three tackles against Purdue. Henrich had five tackles at Michigan State. He started against Maryland and had five tackles with a half TFL. Henrich had five more tackles in another start at Wisconsin before suffering his season-ending injury.
2022 (Sophomore)
A team captain, Henrich battled injuries to start five games in 2022 before suffering a season-ending injury. He finished the season with 37 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss.
Henrich earned his 14th consecutive start in the season opener against Northwestern, when he finished with nine tackles. Henrich suffered an injury in the game and missed the North Dakota and Georgia Southern games. He returned against No. 6 Oklahoma, finishing with six tackles, including one tackle for loss.
Henrich tied for the team lead with five tackles against Indiana, and he added a quarterback hurry. Henrich totaled nine tackles at Rutgers with a one-yard tackle for loss. He had eight first-half tackles at Purdue but suffered an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
2021 (Redshirt Freshman)
Henrich started all 12 games in 2021, finishing with 99 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. During the regular season, Henrich ranked sixth in the Big Ten in total tackles.
Henrich made a game-high 11 tackles at Illinois, including a half tackle for loss. After making four tackles against Fordham, Henrich posted eight tackles with a half TFL against Buffalo. At No. 3 Oklahoma, Henrich posted seven tackles. He made nine tackles, including his first career sack, at No. 20 Michigan State. Henrich had four solo tackles against Northwestern.
He totaled a career-high 15 tackles against No. 9 Michigan, the third double-figure tackle game of his career. At Minnesota, he had seven tackles, including six solo stops, and 1.0 TFL. Henrich posted his third double-figure tackle game of the season and fourth of his career with 14 tackles against Purdue, including a two-yard tackle for loss. He totaled eight tackles against No. 6 Ohio State. Henrich totaled four tackles at No. 19 Wisconsin. In the season finale against No. 17 Iowa, Henrich led the Huskers with eight tackles.
2020 (Covid Season)
Henrich appeared in seven games with one start, totaling 27 tackles, including a half tackle for loss. Henrich worked at both inside and outside linebacker in 2020.
He recorded his first career tackle in the season opener at No. 5 Ohio State and added another tackle in the win over Penn State. Henrich made three tackles against Illinois and added one solo tackle at Iowa. He saw extensive playing time against Minnesota and finished with a then-career-high nine tackles, including a half TFL for his first career tackle for loss. Henrich made his first career start in Nebraska’s season-ending win at Rutgers, leading the Huskers with a season-high 12 tackles.
2019 (Redshirt)
Henrich, who was limited by injuries in his first season, appeared in one game while utilizing his redshirt season in 2019. He made his Husker debut on special teams against No. 15 Wisconsin.
Before Nebraska (Omaha Burke HS)
The 2018 Gatorade Nebraska Player of the Year, Henrich was a standout linebacker in the Huskers’ 2019 recruiting class. In addition to his state honor, Henrich was chosen as a semifinalist for the high school Butkus Award. Henrich was one of two members of the Husker class from Class A state champion Omaha Burke and one of five in-state scholarship signees overall. Henrich was a catalyst for the success of Coach Paul Limongi’s team from 2016 to 2018.
As a senior, Henrich helped the Bulldogs to a 13-0 record by posting 96 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and four sacks. He earned first-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald and Super-State accolades from the Lincoln Journal Star for the second straight year, while being named the honorary captain of the defensive unit by both outlets. Henrich led Burke to a 9-3 record and an appearance in the Class A semifinals in 2017. He finished with 119 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss and 11 sacks. As a sophomore, Henrich helped his team to an 8-3 record and a quarterfinal playoff appearance. He earned honorable-mention all-state recognition after collecting 58 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Henrich was a consensus choice by Rivals, 247Sports and ESPN as the top prospect in the state of Nebraska. Rivals ranked him as the No. 6 outside linebacker prospect in the nation and the No. 127 player overall, while 247Sports listed him as the nation’s No. 88 overall player and its No. 6 inside linebacker prospect. He was also a member of the ESPN 300. Henrich also visited Wisconsin and had dozens of offers including Notre Dame, Iowa and Oregon to name a few.
Personal
The son of Mike and Andrea Henrich, Nick was born on June 20, 2000. Henrich earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Nebraska in May of 2022. Henrich has been part of the leadership team for the Nebraska Football Road Race and has also volunteered at the Buffett Cancer Center, local Thanksgiving hospital visits and the Huskers’ Day of Service.
