2022 (Sophomore)
Alante Brown played in every game as a sophomore with 10 starts at wide receiver. He has caught 16 passes for 191 yards - setting career highs in both categories - while returning one kickoff for 11 yards. He set career highs with three receptions and 32 yards in the season opener against Northwestern. Brown then made two receptions for 27 yards against North Dakota. He had three catches for 28 yards against Georgia Southern. Against No. 6 Oklahoma, Brown hauled in an 11-yard reception. He had a 14-yard catch against Indiana. Brown made two receptions for a career-high 47 yards against No. 17 Illinois, including a career-long 32-yard grab. He caught a 13-yard pass at No. 3 Michigan. In the season-ending win at Iowa, Brown caught two passes for 17 yards and had an 11-yard kickoff return.
2021 (Freshman)
Brown played in 10 games in 2021, catching three passes for 30 yards and returning five kickoffs for 77 yards. He made an 11-yard catch against Fordham for his first reception of the season. Brown also had an 11-yard reception against Purdue, and he returned a kickoff for 18 yards against the Boilermakers. Brown had a 19-yard kickoff return against No. 6 Ohio State. He caught an eight-yard pass at No. 19 Wisconsin, where he returned three kickoffs for 40 yards.
2020 (Covid Season)
Brown played in every game as a true freshman, contributing to the Husker offense while also serving as Nebraska’s top kickoff returner. Brown caught three passes for 41 yards in eight games, had one carry for 18 yards and led the Huskers with 10 kickoff returns for 196 yards.
He made his Husker debut at No. 5 Ohio State, catching one pass for 16 yards. Brown earned the first start of his career in the Huskers’ win over Penn State. He returned the first three kickoffs of his career against Illinois, gaining 63 yards while averaging 21.0 yards per return. At Iowa, Brown had an 18-yard carry and two kickoff returns for 38 yards. He had two more kickoff returns for 38 yards at Purdue. Brown also returned two kickoffs for 43 yards against Minnesota. In the season finale at Rutgers, Brown set career highs with two catches and 25 receiving yards, including a career-long 22-yard reception.
Before Nebraska (Simeon HS/St. Thomas More [Conn.] Prep)
Brown attended St. Thomas More Prep school in Connecticut for one year after starring for Simeon High School in Chicago. Brown helped St. Thomas More to an 8-1 record in 2019, which included the Chancellors snapping Choate Rosemary Hall’s 48-game win streak in a game where Brown had a pair of touchdown catches. Brown originally signed with Texas Tech in 2019 before deciding to attend prep school.
In high school, Brown was a quarterback for Simeon High in Chicago. A three-year starter, he led the Wolverines to a city championship and the Class 7A state quarterfinals as a senior, when Simeon finished with an 11-1 record. Brown threw for 41 touchdowns and rushed for 12 more scores as a senior, earning all-state honors.
Brown was considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, and the organization also listed him as a four-star recruit out of high school when it tabbed him as the No. 215 overall recruit in the 2019 class. The No. 1 prep school player in the 2020 class, Brown chose Nebraska after also taking official visits to Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi and Michigan State.
Personal
Alante was born on Dec. 15, 2000, and he is the son of Shawnell Conyers. He is a child, youth and family studies major.
