Lane Hovey played a prominent role in the Nebraska receiving corps in both 2014 and 2015, earning significant playing time for the Husker offense. Hovey earned a scholarship prior to his junior season and helped Nebraska feature one of the Big Ten’s top passing attacks in 2015.

The Adel, Iowa, native distinguished himself off the field, carrying a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point average through the fall 2015 semester. Hovey will earn his degree in finance/pre-medicine in May, and has made the decision to transfer to the University of Montana following his graduation.

Hovey was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar during his time in Lincoln. In 2015, he was one of five Big Ten football student-athletes and 21 overall student-athletes to be recognized for having a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Hovey was also a three-year member of the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team.

2015 (Junior)
Hovey played in all 13 games and made five starts in a deep and talented receiving corps. He finished the season with 12 receptions for 158 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown reception at Purdue.

Hovey caught five passes for 68 yards against South Alabama, setting career highs in both categories. He also caught a season-long 25-yard pass against the Jaguars. Hovey also two receptions each against BYU and Purdue and had single receptions in three other games.

2014 (Sophomore)
Hovey played in every game and had five receptions for 69 yards. He had three catches for 48 yards at Fresno State, including a career-long 29-yard catch. Hovey had an eight-yard catch at Michigan State and made a 13-yard grab in the fourth quarter against Minnesota.

2013 (Redshirt Freshman)              
Hovey added depth at receiver and played against South Dakota State and Southern Miss.

2012 (Redshirt)   
He redshirted in his first season in 2012. 

Before Nebraska (ADM Adel HS)
Hovey helped lead ADM Adel (Iowa) High School to a 12-1 record as a senior in 2011, when he was a Class 3A first-team all-state selection. He was a standout for an ADM receiving corps that ranked second in the state in touchdown receptions, third in catches and fourth in receiving yards. Hovey ended his career on a strong note, leading his team with four catches and 33 receiving yards in his final game, a loss in the semifinals of the Iowa Class 3A state playoffs. Hovey also played basketball and ran track for the Tigers.

Personal
The son of Kent and Sondra Hovey, Lane was born on Oct. 8, 1993. He has been named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll each of his first seven semesters. Hovey is a four-time member of the Brook Berringer Citizenship Team and a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. He has volunteered his time with Uplifting Athletes, Husker Heroes, Husker Hotline, FCA, Teammates, Pilger tornado relief and local hospital and school visits.
