Defensive tackle Thad Randle battled through an injury-plagued career to provide a physical presence and leadership on the defensive front. Randle started the first 10 games of the season before suffering a knee injury that sidelined him for the final two games of the regular season. Randle returned for his final game against Georgia in the Gator Bowl and produced one of the top games of his Nebraska career.

Randle finished his senior season with 31 tackles, including three tackles for loss and a sack. Before the bowl game his season high was three tackles in four separate games, but he made eight stops against the Bulldogs. The 6-1, 290-pound Randle also provided leadership as the only upperclassman among the Huskers’ top five defensive tackles.

Randle earned his degree in August of 2013 and was one of 19 Husker seniors who will play in the bowl game as a graduate.

2013 (Senior)
Wyoming: Started and produced three tackles. Southern Miss: Made one tackle on the night... helped limit USM to 62 yards rushing. UCLA: Started at defensive tackle and produced three tackles. SDSU: Played in his 35th career game and made his 10th career start... ended the game with two tackles. Illinois: Finished the game with a pair of tackles, while adding his first QB hurry of the season. Purdue: Recorded a pair of tackles, including one solo stop. Minnesota: Tied a season high with three tackles, including his first TFL of the season. Northwestern: Produced three tackles for the fourth time this season. Michigan: Had a career day in his 40th career game... notched his first sack of the year, an 11-yard loss of Devin Gardner in the first quarter... produced a career-high two TFLs for 12 yards. Michigan State: Made a pair of tackles before being forced to leave the game in the first half due to injury. Penn State: Didn’t play at PSU due to injury. Iowa: Was unable to play in his final game at Memorial Stadium due to injury. Georgia: Finished in strong fashion, with a career-high eight tackles against Bulldogs... tied his career best with four solo stops as Nebraska held UGA to just one touchdown.

2012 (Junior)
Randle played in 13 games and made six starts at defensive tackle. Randle made a total of 21 tackles, including 10 solo stops and added a tackle for loss against Arkansas State. Randle had a fumble recovery at Ohio State. Randle had multiple tackles in seven games, including a season-high four tackles, all solo, at UCLA. Randle’s play helped Nebraska rank among the top pass defenses in the nation and rank in the top 40 in total defense.

2011 (Sophomore)
Randle played in six of the first seven games, and had eight tackles, including a three-yard sack at Wyoming. He had a career-high five tackles against the Cowboys and made three tackles at Minnesota.

Randle suffered a knee injury in late October and did not return for the rest of the season.

2010 (Redshirt Freshman)
Randle played in 12 games as a reserve tackle behind Jared Crick and Baker Steinkuhler. Randle’s role grew late in the season and he finished the year with seven tackles and a quarterback hurry. He had three tackles in Nebraska’s win over Idaho, in addition to stops against Washington, Kansas State, Missouri and in the Holiday Bowl rematch with Washington.

2009 (Redshirt)
Randle redshirted and worked on the NU scout team.

Before Nebraska (North Shore HS)
Randle was one of eight signees from Texas in NU's 2009 recruiting class, coming to NU from North Shore High School in Galena Park. As a senior, Randle made 70 total tackles, including 17 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. He also had 11 quarterback hurries, forced three fumbles, recovered two others and had four pass breakups for Coach Steve Aymond.

Randle's play helped the Mustangs to a perfect 8-0 regular season, before a second-round loss to state runner-up FB Hightower in the Class 5A playoffs. North Shore had a history of success, as Randle left a program that had won 78 straight regular-season contests following the 2008 season. Randle was a first-team Class 5A all-state selection by the Associated Press and was named to the Houston Chronicle's Greater Houston first-team squad.

Randle was a three-year standout for the Mustangs. As a junior, he earned second-team all-district honors for a 14-1 team that reached the state semifinals. Randle also earned second-team all-district honors when he cracked the starting lineup as a sophomore. Randle took his only recruiting visit to Nebraska.

Personal
Thaddeus is the son of Thaddeus Randle Sr. and Julia Long and was born on Oct. 20, 1990. He is majoring in ethnic studies, and was a second-team academic All-Big 12 pick in 2010. He was named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2011-12 and the spring semester of 2013. Randle has volunteered time at the Malone Center.
