2009 (Junior)
Nebraska native Derek Meyer played a prominent role on the Nebraska offensive line in 2009 in his first and only season of action with the Huskers. Meyer was a consistent performer up front while backing up Keith Williams and Ricky Henry at guard for the majority of the season.
Meyer played in all 14 games as he also served on NU's PAT and field goal units. He started the first three games of the season at left guard and helped Nebraska average 200 rushing yards per game in those contests.
2008 (Redshirt)
Meyer sat out the 2008 season due to NCAA transfer regulations and was a stalwart on the Nebraska scout team offense. In addition to sitting out the season, Meyer forfeited a year of eligibility by transferring within the Big 12 Conference.
Before Nebraska (Silver Lake HS/Kansas State)
Meyer was a scholarship signee at Kansas State and redshirted in his first season in 2005. He saw action in K-State's first five games in 2006 as a redshirt freshman before sustaining a injury that sidelined him for the rest of the year. He did not play during the 2007 season before transferring to Nebraska.
Meyer was a three-year starter at Silver Lake High School, earning all-district and all-state honors three times. While playing at tight end, he caught 19 passes for 325 yards.
Personal
The son of Dana and Mitzi Meyer, Derek was born on May 3, 1987. He is majoring in agribusiness and has volunteered his time at the People's City Mission and Messiah Lutheran Church.
