Dave Langworthy joined the Nebraska strength staff in 2004 and helps oversee the daily strength and conditioning needs of the Husker football team. He previously worked at Pittsburgh for two years as an assistant football strength coach, and also at Ohio State from 1990 to 2001.
A native of Miami, Fla., Langworthy graduated from Florida State in 1989 with a degree in exercise physiology. He was the head men’s basketball strength coach and assistant strength coach for football and baseball at FSU from 1987 to 1989.
Langworthy joined Ohio State in 1990, serving as assistant strength coach for football as well as head strength coach for the men’s basketball team from 1990 to 1996. During that time, the Buckeyes’ basketball team was a two-time conference champion and twice a No. 1 regional seed. From 1990 to 2001, Langworthy served as the assistant strength coach for football.
An avid competitor, Langworthy captured the Florida state championship titles in weightlifting, freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling. He also won the Southern State Championship in powerlifting. Langworthy has attained the rank of Shodan (black belt) in Kenpo. In 2007, Langworthy earned the distinction of Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
