Career
Defensive tackle Chris Bryant served in a reserve role throughout his Husker career, playing behind fellow seniors Titus Adams and Le Kevin Smith among others. In 2005, Bryant appeared in Nebraska victories over Wake Forest and Kansas State.
A walk-on to the Nebraska program, Bryant was also a reserve defensive tackle for the Huskers from 2002 to 2004, but did not see action in a game.
Bryant was a secondary education major at Nebraska and a first-team academic All-Big 12 pick in 2005. He was a four-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, while also being active in community outreach activities.
Before Nebraska (Smoky Hill HS)
Bryant was a two-sport standout at Smoky Hill High School, earning three letters in football and one in basketball. Bryant was named second-team All-Centennial League as a defensive tackle after posting 223 total tackles, including 10 sacks and one interception. He added honorable-mention all-league accolades as an offensive tackle. Bryant also helped the Smoky Hill basketball team to an Elite Eight appearance at the state tournament.
Personal
The son of Cathy and Keith Bryant, Chris was born on March 4, 1984, in Denver. He is a secondary education major and earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors as a senior. He was also a four-time Big 12 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member. Bryant is also active in community outreach activities, volunteering with American Education Week, School is Cool Week and local hospital visits.
