The Huskers rolled up more than 300 yards rushing five times in 2002.
Cody finished fourth on the Husker offensive line with 91 pancakes, including four double-figure pancake games. A powerful force on the offensive front, Cody was a finalist for the 2002 Nebraska Lifter-of-the- Year Award. He is one of several Huskers playing in the bowl game as a graduate after earning a bachelor's degree in communication studies.

His career-best performance was one more than his season total entering the game, and was just six shy of his career total prior to the contest. Cody and company assisted the Huskers to a No. 1 ranking in rushing, averaging 314.7 yards per game. Cody played in the 2002 Rose Bowl, the only non-starter to see action on the offensive line.
