Senior Aaron Golliday took over the full-time starting duties at tight end in 2002 after three seasons as a key alternate at the position. Golliday is one of the most experienced Husker players on the roster, with 48 career games played and 19 starts, including 11 this season. Golliday, a 6-4, 290-pounder, has been used primarily as a blocker throughout his Husker career. However, he has been involved in the NU passing game, including three catches with two touchdowns this fall. Golliday was an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection by the league coaches.

2002: Fifth-year senior Aaron Golliday started 11 games for Nebraska at tight end and appeared in all 13 games. Golliday caught three passes for 29 yards this season. His first reception of the year was a season-long 16-yard grab at Penn State. Golliday's other two receptions in 2002 were touchdown catches from quarterback Jammal Lord. His one-yard touchdown just before halftime against Missouri gave NU a 14-13 advantage in a 24-13 victory. He added a 12-yard touchdown reception against Kansas. Golliday played a key role as a blocker from his tight end position and helped Nebraska to a Big 12-leading 268.9 yards per game.

2001: Golliday played in every game in 2001, starting two, the Texas Tech game when Wistrom sat out with a knee injury, and the Oklahoma game when the Huskers opened in a two-tight end set. Primarily a blocker, Golliday caught one pass, a four-yard catch vs. TCU. He also had one solo tackle at Missouri. Golliday also started the 2002 Rose Bowl vs. Miami, joining Wistrom in a two tight end formation.

2000: Nebraska's No. 2 tight end, Golliday paired with All-Big 12 selection Wistrom for three starts in 2000. Golliday struggled with a nagging shoulder injury, but saw action in all 11 games. He had one catch, a seven-yard grab against Iowa. He also caught a two-point conversion pass from Eric Crouch at Iowa State. Golliday played in the 2000 Alamo Bowl vs. Northwestern, but did not have a reception.

1999: Golliday had a solid start and finish to his freshman season, catching a pass in his first game as a Husker and making two catches in the Fiesta Bowl against Tennessee. Golliday showed steady improvement as the season progressed and saw his playing time increase in the last two games, as Wistrom sat out with a knee injury. Golliday played in all 13 games, starting the last four, including the bowl game, when Nebraska opened in a two tight-end set. Golliday had three catches, one at Iowa in the season opener and two for 29 yards against Texas A&M in November. His first two receptions both went for 24 yards and a pair of first downs. He did not score a touchdown, but averaged 17.7 yards per catch. Golliday was a member of Nebraska's kickoff return team and punt coverage team, recording three solo tackles (one vs. California, Oklahoma State and Texas in the Big 12 Championship). Golliday started along with fellow tight end T.J. DeBates in the Fiesta Bowl and had two catches for 25 yards against Tennessee. He scored Nebraska's third touchdown on a 13-yard pass from Crouch, capping a nine-play, 96-yard drive that gave Nebraska a 24-14 lead in the third quarter. A late-season addition to the Husker outdoor track team, Golliday finished seventh in the shot put at the 2000 Big 12 Championships, scoring two points for the champion Huskers with a mark of 55-7 1/2.

1998: A member of the 1998 recruiting class, Golliday suited up for the first game before deciding to redshirt his first year as a Husker.

At York HS: Golliday earned first-team All-Nebraska honors from the Omaha World-Herald and first-team super-state honors from the Lincoln Journal Star as a punter and also earned first-team all-state Class B honors as a running back his senior season. In 1997, Golliday rushed for 1,923 yards and 21 touchdowns. His sophomore season was cut short after he suffered a broken leg. Golliday also earned all-state honors in basketball and track and played American Legion baseball in the summer. Golliday won the all-class gold medal in the shot put with a throw of 61-4 and placed third in the discus in 1998. His career-best throw of 63-8 in the shot was the fourth-best throw in state history. In 1998, Golliday was selected as the Nebraska Male High School Athlete of the Year by both major state papers.

Personal: The son of Monroe and Jeanne Golliday, Aaron was born on Dec. 3, 1979, in Topeka, Kan. Golliday is majoring in marketing and is on schedule to graduate in May 2003. He has volunteered as a celebrity reader. Golliday married Miranda Shelden in the summer of 2002.
