J.P. (John Paul) Wichmann (pronounced WISH-man) backed up starter Demoine Adams at rush end as a senior, playing in all 12 regular-season games and the Rose Bowl.  A solid student, Wichmann graduated in December 2001.

Wichmann finished his senior season with 15 tackles, including six solo stops.  He had six tackles for 23 yards lost, including two sacks for 18 yards lost.  He had five quarterback hurries and one fumble recovered at Kansas.  Wichmann had a career-best four tackles in the Rice game.  His tackles for loss were solos in six games.  He had a 10-yard sack against Texas Tech and split sacks against Iowa State and Baylor.  He had a season-best two quarterback hurries at Missouri.

In 2000, Wichmann played in every game and recorded nine tackles, including three for losses, two sacks for 12 yards lost and one quarterback hurry.  He played in the 2000 Alamo Bowl, but did not have a tackle.

Wichmann played in six games in 1999, totaling four tackles.  He had one solo stop against California, Missouri, and Oklahoma State and one assisted tackle against Texas A&M.  He combined with fellow rush end Justin Smith for an 11-yard sack in the 37-0 shutout of A&M.  He suited up for the 2000 Fiesta Bowl game vs. Tennessee, but did not see action.

In 1998 as a reserve rush end, Wichmann saw action in three games and recorded two tackles (one solo and one assist) against UAB.

A scholarship athlete, Wichmann redshirted his first year.
