Career

Fred Pollack played in 35 games throughout his career. In his final two seasons with the Huskers he notched 127 pancakes with 102 of them coming his senior year. After the 1998 NFL Draft, Pollack signed a free agency deal with the St. Louis Rams.

1997 (Senior)

Pollack started every game in 1997 at left tackle and helped power NU to its 13th national rushing title with 392.6 yards per game. He was an incredibly strong athlete who held Nebraska postion records for strength and speed. Pollack totaled 102 pancakes as a senior, including a career-best 17 at Missouri. He played in the 1998 Orange Bowl against Tennessee.

1996 (Junior)

Pollack played in every game except Arizona State in 1996. He aided the Huskers to a No. 4 national ranking in rushing (291.9 ypg), a No. 25 ranking in total offense (422.42 ypg) and a No. 4 ranking in scoring offense (42.7 ppg). Pollack had a total of 25 pancakes on the season (2.3 average), with a season-best of six against Colorado State and Kansas. He was a member of the Husker PAT and field goal teams. He also played in the 1996 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech.

1995 (Sophomore)

Pollack aided the team to the school's 10th rushing title under Osborne as he played in six games in 1995. He also played in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl at left tackle behind Chris Dishman and Kory Mikos.

1994 (Freshman)

Pollack played in four games at left tackle.

1993 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Pollack redshirted his first year.

Before Nebraska (Creighton Prep)

Pollack played both offensive guard and defensive tackle for Coach Tom Jaworski at Creighton Prep. Pollack was a three-year starter on offense and was named the Metro Conference Offensive Lineman-of-the-Year by the coaches. Although he started just one year at defensive tackle, he earned first-team All-Nebraska and Super-State honors from the Omaha World-Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star as a defensive lineman and all-division and all-metro honors as an offensive lineman in 1992. He played for the North team in the 1993 Nebraska Shrine Game. He was an undefeated heavyweight wrestler as a senior and the metro champion. He threw the shot put and discus and won the metro discus gold medal as a junior.

Personal

The son of Larry and Diana Pollack, Fred was born Dec. 27, 1974. Former Husker offensive tackle Bob Sledge (1986-87-88) is his uncle.
