• Signed NFL Free Agent Contract with Green Bay Packers in 2002
  • Third on Nebraska Career Chart with 38 Pass Breakups
  • Tied for Fifth on NU Season PBU Chart with 13 in 1998

The last remaining starter from Nebraska's 1997 national championship team, Erwin Swiney (pronounced SWEE-nee) made 38 starts (including bowl games) in his Husker career.  The Lincoln Northeast graduate finished third on school charts with 38 career pass breakups, trailing only Keyou Craver's 41 and former All-American Ralph Brown's record 50 PBUs.  Swiney, who made three starts in 2001, shared time at right cornerback with DeJuan Groce and saw most of his time in nickel and dime packages.

An August 2001 graduate, Swiney played his senior season with his degree in hand, before signing a free agent contract with the Green Bay Packers in 2002.
