Dion Booker Season 1997
- 2001 Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 (Coaches)
- 2001 Finalist for Nebraska Lifter of the Year Award
Dion Booker enjoyed a solid career as a four-year letterwinner, including three seasons as a starter. The Oceanside, Calif. native, and younger brother of former Husker Michael Booker, spent his first three years as a free safety before shifting to rover in NU's bowl preparations for the 2000 Alamo Bowl against Northwestern. The move paid off as Booker recorded a team-high eight tackles in NU's 66-17 win.
In 2001, he started six games at free safety and four games at rover, as Willy Amos and Philip Blacnd missed time because of injuries. Despite shifting positions Booker, who played in 49 contests (including bowl games) at NU, posted a career-high 62 tackles to tie for second on the team, while earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors. He added three unassisted tackles in the 2002 Rose Bowl against Miami. Booker finished his career with 126 total tackles and 21 regular-season starts. He graduated in December 2001.
