Career

Ben Kingston appeared in 23 games throughout his collegiate career as a fullback. He gained 44 yards on 21 rushing attempts and graduated from Nebraska as a member of its 1995 and 1997 national championship teams.

1999 (Senior)

Kingston played in 11 games his senior season as the No. 2 guy behind Willie Miller. Kingston rushed six times and gained 19 yards. His career-best run coming against Iowa when he darted 11-yards. Kingston saw playing time in the 2000 Fiesta Bowl against Tennessee, but did not register a carry.

1998 (Junior)

Playing in three games, Kingston had three carries for nine yards, including a three-yard carry against Washington, two carries for six yards against Kansas (including a season-long of five yards), and action but no carries against Iowa State. He played in the 1998 Holiday Bowl against Arizona, but did not have any carries. Following the Holiday Bowl in January, Kingston had addition surgery on his right knee to repair cartilage damage after being hampered by the injury throughout the season.

1997 (Sophomore)

Kingston did not play in the first game of the season as he was still recovering from a torn right ACL suffered during the spring. He had one carry for two yards in three games, against Central Florida, Oklahoma and Iowa State. He also played against Kansas State but did not register a carry. Kingston played in the 1998 Orange Bowl against Tennessee, but did not have a carry.

1996 (Freshman)

Kingston was awarded a scholarship before the season began. He played in five games as a reserve fullback. He had nine carries for 10 yards, including a long of six against Kansas State. Kingston had a season-high four carries for five yards against Kansas.

1995 (Redshirt)

A former walk-on athlete, Kingston redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

Omaha Westside High School

Kingston played I-back, fullback and defensive end for Omaha Westside. He rushed for more than 500 yards his senior year, averaging 6.5 yards per carry. Kingston was his team's most valuable player on offense and an all-division end as a junior and running back as a senior. He had a single-game best 126 yards rushing against Omaha Benson. Kinston played in the 1994 Shrine Bowl.

Personal

The son of Tim and Marilyn Kingston, Ben's uncle is Dr. Tom Heiser, who is an orthopedic surgeon and a former academic All-American for the Huskers (1974-75 letterman). Ben was born in Seattle, Wash., on Aug. 19.1976. He majored in political science and earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 1999.
