Career

Adam Julch appeared in 30 games throughout his Husker career and finished with 142 "pancakes" (knock-down blocks). He graduated from Nebraska as a member of its 1995 and 1997 national championship teams.

1999 (Senior)

Julch made it through his senior season, but took his fair share of bumps and bruises along the way. He battled back spasms, a chronic elbow injury, a sprained ankle and a couple of deep thigh bruises, but started every game for the Huskers in 1999. A team captain, Julch was a team leader, particularly for the offensive line as he had 70 "pancakes" on the year. He had a career-best 10 "pancakes" against Kansas State. He averaged 5.8 per game and had at least eight pancakes five times. He started in the 2000 Fiesta Bowl against Tennessee. Julch was a three-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree and earned second-team GTE/CoSIDA All-District VII honors.

1998 (Junior)

Julch started the first 11 games at left tackle and backed up senior Ben Gessford in the Huskers' regular-season finale against Colorado. He started against Arizona in the 1998 Holiday Bowl. Julch had suffered a dislocated right ankle in the spring game and subsequent surgery limited him during fall practice and his mobility throughout the year. Despite the injury, he played in every game and finished seventh in "pancakes" with 57. He had a season-best nine against Louisiana Tech and Washington. Julch was a two-time first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree and a three-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll member.

1997 (Sophomore)

Julch had his knee scoped after spring ball but was healthy for fall, although the sore knee limited his participation in spring camp. Julch played in 10 games, plus the 1998 Orange Bowl game against Tennessee, as Fred Pollack's backup at left tackle. He assisted the Huskers to national statistical titles in rushing (392.6), total offense (513.7) and scoring (47.1). Julch was also a member of the Huskers' PAT and field goal units. Julch had 10 "pancakes" on the season, including a season-high three against Oklahoma. He was a first-team academic All-Big 12 honoree and found himself on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year.

1996 (Freshman)

Julch played in six games as a redshirt freshman at left tackle. He did not play in the 1996 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech. Julch appeared on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll for the first time.

1995 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Julch redshirted his first year as a Husker.

Omaha Burke High School

As an offensive tackle for Omaha Burke, Julch earned Bluechip Illustrated All-America and SuperPrep All-Midlands region honors. During his senior season, Julch was a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive lines for the Bulldogs. He earned first-team All-Nebraska offensive line honors from the Omaha World-Herald and was picked for the Lincoln Journal Star's Super-State team as an offensive lineman. Julch recorded 77 tackles in 10 games in 1994, including 40 solo stops. He and current Husker teammate Aaron Wills tied for the "best hit" award in 1994. Playing for Coach Larry Jacobsen, Julch hails from the same high school that sent former Husker stars Barney Cotton (OG), Mike Keeler (DT) and Andy Keeler (LG) to NU, as well as Wills, a Husker senior rush end. Julch started for the Burke basketball team at center, averaging eight points and 11 rebounds per game. He was a state participant in track and threw the shot 55-7 and the discus 145 feet. Julch selected NU over Colorado, Iowa and Kansas State. A standout in the classroom, Julch earned all-metro academic honors, was named to the honor roll every semester and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Personal

The son of Dennis and Gloria Julch, Adam was born on Jan. 31, 1977. Adam majored in mathematics and earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in December of 1999. He was a keynote speaker at the Sidney Tour of Excellence and volunteered with the D.A.R.E. program.
