Before Nebraska (El Camino High School)

A SuperPrep and Blue Chip All-American, Crayton was a teammate of fellow Husker corner Michael Booker for Coach Herb Meyer at El Camino High. Crayton intercepted seven passes and made more than 100 tackles as a senior and received the "Hit-of-the-Year" award from the San Diego Union newspaper. He also threw for 751 yards and 12 touchdowns and scored 14 touchdowns with 898 yards rushing as El Camino's starting quarterback. Crayton helped El Camino to three CIF championships and the state title his senior year. He chose Nebraska over Texas A&M, Oregon and Washington State.
