Career

Tedd Retzlaff served as the holder for Kris Brown on field goals and as the backup place-kicker. Retzlaff hit on all 33 of his PAT attempts and was 0-1 on a two-point pass conversion attempt after a bad snap forced him to try for two points.

1997 (Senior)

Fifth-year senior Retzlaff backed up Brown on all place-kicking duties. Retzlaff took over holding duties, replacing graduated senior Jon Vedral. He was active in every game and was a perfect 7-7 on PATs. Retzlaff earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors for the second year in a row.

1996 (Junior)

The No. 2 place-kicker behind Brown, Retzlaff kicked in seven games. He was 13-13 on PATs. He did not have an opportunity to kick in the Orange Bowl. He earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Fall Semester Academic Honor Roll.

1995 (Sophomore)

Retzlaff missed all of spring drills when he tore the ACL in his left knee (kicking leg) and had reconstructive surgery on April 18. He was not ready to travel to Stillwater for the Aug. 31 game against Oklahoma State but served as the backup place-kicker to true freshman Brown for the remainder of the season. Retzlaff kicked in seven games and was perfect on 11 PATs. In the 1996 Fiesta Bowl, Retzlaff was 1-2 on the last two PATs of the game (the first attempt was blocked). He was named to the Phillips 66 Academic Honor Roll.

1994 (Freshman)

Retzlaff played in the Pacific game and kicked two extra points (on two attempts) and had two solo tackles.

1993 (Redshirt)

In his first year at Nebraska, Retzlaff, a walk-on, redshirted.

Waverly High School

A three-year letterman, Retzlaff served as his team's quarterback, free safety and kicker and earned second-team Super-State honors as a kicker. He made 12 of 16 field goals with a long of 49 yards. He played for the South team in the 1993 Nebraska Shrine Game. He was a member of the Class B All-State team and was named academic all-state by the Lincoln Journal Star. He was a member of FCA, student council, marching band, jazz band and the student newspaper. He also lettered three years in basketball and four in track.

Personal

The son of Alan and Shirley Retzlaff, Ted was born on April 15, 1975. Retzlaff served as a volunteer speaker in 1994 at Waverly Elementary School.
