Career

Sean Wieting played in 22 games. He was a reserve wingback and played primarily on special teams his junior season. Wieting was a part of Nebraska’s three national championship teams in the 1990’s.

1997 (Senior)

Wieting played in one game his senior year. He entered the fall as the only walk-on player at wingback and was third on the depth chart behind Shevin Wiggins and Lance Brown.

1996 (Junior)

Wieting served as a backup wingback but played in every game as a member of NU's kickoff teams. Wieting caught one six-yard pass against Colorado State. He played in the Orange Bowl but did not have any receptions.

1995 (Sophomore)

As a sophomore reserve wingback, Wieting played in five games but did not have any catches.

1994 (Freshman)

Wieting played in four games as a reserve wingback.

1993 (Redshirt)

A walk-on, Wieting redshirted his first season as a Husker.

Before Nebraska (Tigard High School)

Wieting played running back and defensive back for Tigard High School. He rushed for 1,392 yards as a senior and had 198 receiving yards. He helped lead his team to a state championship as a sophomore, the quarterfinals as a junior and to the semifinals as a senior. Wieting earned all-metro honors and honorable-mention all-state honors. He also lettered twice in track and was the Tigard High Athlete-of-the-Year.

The son of Bab and Carla Wieting, Sean was born on June 19, 1975.
