Career

Ramone Worthy joined the Huskers in 1993 after earning a scholarship at the strong side linebacker position. Worthy spent one year with the Huskers before taking time off to focus on school. He returned for the 1995 season before deciding to pursue other interests.

1995 (Sophomore)

A distant cousin to former Nebraska Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier, Worthy returned to football in the spring of 1995. He did not see any playing time as he backed up Jay Foreman and Larry Arnold at Sam linebacker.

1994 (Freshman)

Worthy did not participate in football, but remained enrolled in school.

1993 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Worthy redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

Before Nebraska (Woodrow Wilson High School)

Worthy was a second-team all-state running back at Woodrow Wilson High in Camden for Coach Darrell Wilson. He gained 1,554 yards in nine games (177.0 ypg, 8.0 ypa) and scored 20 touchdowns in 1992 as the lone back for the 8-1 conference champion Tigers. It was the first year he played for Woodrow Wilson as he transferred from Manchester High after his junior year. As a running back, he earned first team all-conference, all-region, All-South Jersey and All-Delaware (which includes Southern New Jersey, Delaware and portions of Pennsylvania). He also played linebacker and tallied 90 tackles (50 solo), six quarterback sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Also a sprinter for the track team, Worthy ran a 6.52 electronic 55 meters, a 10.7 100 meters, 22.6 split in the 4x200-meter relay and threw 52-0 in the shot put as a junior.

The son of Richard and Vera Worthy, Ramone was born on Nov. 10, 1973.
