Career

Kareem Sears joined the Huskers in 1995 after earning a scholarship at the linebacker position. He redshirted his first year in Lincoln and appeared in three games his redshirt-freshman season. In those three games he recorded two tackles (one solo). Following the 1996 season, Sears decided to pursue other interests. He left Nebraska as a member of its 1995 national championship team.

Before Nebraska (Enid High School)

Tabbed by SuperPrep and BlueChip Illustrated as a linebacker All-American, Sears turned in a sterling senior season playing for Coach Craig Simmons at Enid High School. Following the season, Sears was picked by BlueChip Illustrated and SuperPrep as an All-American linebacker. BlueChip listed Sears as the No. 1 linebacker in the Big Eight region. Sears totaled 97 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 15 tackles for losses and one fumble recovery. A big linebacker, Sears has been timed in 10.6, in the 100-meters. In addition, Sears lists a 310-pound bench press and 500-pound squat. Sears leaves the Sooner State after spurning offers from Oklahoma, Texas, Baylor and Missouri, but only visited Nebraska.

The son of Terry and Tandra Sears, Kareem was born on Dec. 17, 1976.
