Career

Josh Kohl played in 26 games throughout his career and recorded 16 tackles (five solo), one tackle for a three-yard loss, one fumble recovery and two quarterback hurries. Kohl finished his career as a member of Nebraska's 1995 and 1997 national championship teams.

1999 (Senior)

Kohl entered his final season as an experienced linebacker, but backed up returning starter Eric Johnson and senior Julius Jackson at Will linebacker. Kohl did not see any game action.

1998 (Junior)

Kohl played in every game last season, including the Holiday Bowl, behind Johnson and Jackson at Will linebacker. Kohl had 10 tackles (four solo) on the season, including one three-yard tackle for loss against Iowa State. He also had two quarterback hurries causing incomplete passes and a fumble recovery against Iowa State. He had a career-best three tackles each against Texas A&M and Iowa State. Kohl played in the 1998 Holiday Bowl against Arizona, but did not record any tackles.

1997 (Sophomore)

Kohl played in seven games in 1997, recording three tackles (one solo). He played in the 1998 Orange Bowl against Tennessee but did not have any tackles.

1996 (Freshman)

As a freshman, Kohl played in seven games and had three assisted tackles, including a season-best two against Oklahoma.

1995 (Redshirt)

A walk-on athlete, Kohl redshirted his first season in Lincoln.

Hastings High School

Kohl helped lead Hastings to state titles in 1993 (Class A) and 1994 (Class B), rushing for 177 yards and three touchdowns in the championship game against McCook in 1994. He played outside linebacker and halfback for Coach Walt Olson. He had 1,800 yards and 28 touchdowns his last two years. He was a first-team all-state linebacker in 1994, and an all-state halfback in 1995, rushing for 989 yards and 18 touchdowns. Kohl also lettered twice in track and wrestling (sixth in state in 1993, third in 1994).

Personal

The son of Dave and Linda Kohl, Josh was born on Jan. 24, 1977.
