Career

Jeff Clausen's collegiate career was cut short as he was unable to compete his senior season after being sidelined by knee injuries. He appeared in 11 games, in his three-year career, for the Huskers at right tackle.

1998 (Junior)

Clausen appeared in one game his junior year as he battled knee injuries and recovered from a broken left hand sustained during the spring game. He backed up fellow junior Jason Schwab at right tackle.

1997 (Sophomore)

Clausen played in six games as a backup right tackle to Eric Anderson and Schwab. He had six pancakes (knock-down blocks), an average of one per game and had a season-high three pancakes against Iowa State. He did not play in the 1998 Orange Bowl against Tennessee.

1996 (Freshman)

Clausen played in four games behind right tackle Anderson, but struggled with a nagging left knee injury. He missed most of spring ball and did not play in the Huskers' last four games. Clausen had surgery on his left knee in February, 1997 to replace pins.

1995 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Clausen redshirted in 1995.

Before Nebraska (Dixon High School)

A versatile performer, Clausen played both ways on the prep scene. He was picked as an All-America offensive lineman by Bluechip Illustrated and earned honorable-mention Illinois Player-of-the-Year and All-America honors from USA Today. Clausen also earned all-state honors from the Champaign Gazette and was named all-region by the Dixon Telegraph. Clausen's high school coach, Greg Sprenger, was a former coach at Beatrice (Neb.) High School. A top track athlete as well, Clausen finished sixth at the 1995 state meet with a 176-0 discus toss and third in the shot (58-6) with school-record marks in both. He was also a two-year basketball letterman. Clausen visited Iowa and was recruited by Illinois, Iowa State and Northwestern.
