Career

David Alderman played five positions throughout his Cornhusker career. When he joined the Huskers in 1992 he practiced with the receiving core, but switched to defensive back during spring ball. Prior to 1994, Alderman was receiving practice time as a free safety before switched to rover. The switched served him well as he played in five games as backup to Mike Minter and Octavious McFarlin. In-between the 1995 and 1996 season Alderman changed positions one more time and became the No. 3 right cornerback behind Mike Fullman and Jerome Peterson. Alderman earned first-team academic All-Big 12 honors in 1996 and found himself on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll the same fall semester.

1996 (Senior)

Alderman entered his senior year as the No. 3 right cornerback behind Mike Fullman and Jerome Peterson. Alderman moved from free safety to rover before last season and to cornerback before the start of spring ball. He had one assisted tackle, resulting in a two-yard loss.

1995 (Junior)

Alderman played in five games as a backup rover to Mike Minter and Octavious McFarlin. He had one solo tackle against Iowa State. He played in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl but had no tackles.

1994 (Sophomore)

Alderman played in three games at rover but had no tackles.

1993 (Freshman)

Played in four games but had no tackles.

1992 (Redshirt)

Alderman redshirted in his first year at Nebraska and made the Dean's List in the College of Engineering and Technology. He switched from receiver to defensive back in the spring.

Omaha North High School

Alderman was a wide receiver and played outside linebacker for Coach Herman Colvin at Omaha North, where he was a teammate of former Husker Clinton Childs. He had five receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns in his first and only game of his senior season before it was cut short by an injury. David earned three all-class gold medals in track events. He earned academic all-state honors in 1990 and 1991 and was among the top 10 students in his class and a National Honor Society member.
