Career

Matt Hoskinson appeared in 33 games during his collegiate career. He finished with 163 pancakes (knock-down blocks).

1997 (Senior)

Hoskinson was the sixth man to play on the line and backed up Josh Heskew at center, Jon Zatcheka at right guard and Aaron Taylor at left guard. Along with the aforementioned players, Hoskinson helped the Huskers to statistical national titles in rushing (392.6 ypg), total offense (513.7 ypg) and scoring (47.1 ppg). He played in every game, recording 124 pancakes on the season (10.3 average) with a career-best 13 four times throughout the season (against Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Iowa State). Hoskinson played in the 1998 Orange Bowl against Tennessee.

1996 (Junior)

Hoskinson played in every game except Arizona State as the Huskers' No. 2 right guard behind starter Jon Zatechka. He aided the Huskers to a No. 4 national ranking in rushing (291.9), a No. 25 ranking in total offense (422.42) and a No. 4 ranking in scoring offense (42.7). He had a total of 43 pancakes on the season (3.9 average) with a season-best nine against Iowa State. He played in the 1996 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech.

1995 (Sophomore)

Hoskinson played in seven games in 1995 as the No. 3 left guard behind Aaron Taylor and Steve Volin. Hoskinson saw late-game action, but with his counterparts on the offensive line, did not allow a single sack all season, setting a school record. Nebraska won its second consecutive NCAA rushing title, averaging 399.8 yards per game. Hoskinson played in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl.

1994 (Freshman)

Hoskinson played in one game in 1994 as a reserve offensive guard.

1993 (Redshirt)

A walk-on athlete, Hoskinson redshirted his first year in Lincoln.

Battle Creek High School

A four year all-stater and all-honorable mention basketball player, Hoskinson was also a standout in wrestling, winning the Class C state title. He helped lead Battle Creek to the state football title. He played both sides of the ball and played for the North in the 1993 Nebraska Shrine Game. As a fullback, he rushed for 670 yards with an average of 8.0 per carry. He earned Class C all-state honors as a linebacker his freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. He was named academic all-state in football and wrestling. He was also a starter on Battle Creek's basketball team as a sophomore, and a pitcher, catcher and first baseman on the Battle Creek Legion baseball team.

Personal

The son of Pete and Kathy Hoskinson, Matt was born on Jan. 22, 1975. In his spare time, Matt likes to play the drums.
