Career

Larry Arnold was Nebraska's first scholarship recruit out of the state of Ohio in 15 years. He saw limited action in 1994, his sophomore year, then left the team for personal reasons after playing in the first five games in 1995. Arnold rejoined the team the second semester of his junior year, as a walk-on, before personal issues forced him to leave once more.

1995 (Junior)

Arnold played in the first five games and recorded six tackles including one pass breakup against the Arizona State Sun Devils before leaving the team to work on personal issues. He had a career-best three tackles in the season opener against Michigan State.

1994 (Sophomore)

After redshirting in 1993, Arnold saw his playing time increase as the season progressed in his first year as a Husker. Arnold was the backup Sam linebacker to Troy Dumas and Clint Brown. Playing in 10 games, Arnold recorded four tackles. In the 1995 Orange Bowl, Arnold played but did not record any tackles.

1993 (Redshirt)

A scholarship athlete, Arnold redshirted.

1992 (Freshman)

Arnold sat out the 1992 season.

Before Nebraska (Copley High School)

Arnold was a two-way standout for Coach Don Borman at Copley High School. An All-Suburban (Cleveland) League linebacker, he also had 20 pass receptions and two touchdowns as a receiver. A standout sprinter on the Copley track team, he ran an 11-second 100 meters and a 23.3 in the 200, and threw the discus 152 feet. He was also a member of Copley's state-qualifying 200 freestyle relay swim team. Arnold chose Nebraska over Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State and Pittsburgh. Before Arnold, Nebraska's last Ohio recruit was tailback Greg Whetsel of Ridgeway Ridgemont in 1977.

Personal

The son of Dwight and Sheila Roach, Arnold was born March 27, 1974.
